THE PROBLEM

The average student loan debt in New York State for 2017 graduates was $30,931.
New York ranks 13th in the nation for highest student loan debt, with 60 percent of students who graduated in 2017 entering the workforce with student loan debt.
The average published tuition and fee price for full-time, in-state students at public, four-year colleges and universities is $10,230 in 2018-19, $250 higher than it was in 2017-18.

OUR VISION

Make College Affordable for All: Enact the “Affordable College for All Initiative.”
Prepare a 21st Century Workforce: Create a high school apprenticeship program (the Learning for Work Program) and incentivize community college attendance to address the “middle-skills” gap.
Require Greater Disclosure from Higher Education Institutions: Require any higher education institution receiving State funding to disclose additional information to current and potential students.
